If you have read about the consequences of ending up with KNOX Warranty Void: 0x1 and you are scared to try and root your Galaxy S4 mini or use tools such as Kingo, then here is another alternative method that is considered safer than any other. What if I told you that this method does not trigger the KNOX flag as well, but it just safely roots your Galaxy S4 mini. Sounds great, eh?

sch-i435 knox

This safe root method was originally intended for the Galaxy S4 by k1mu from xda-developers forums but thanks to postal302 who has tested this on the Verizon S4 mini variant (SCH-I435), we can confirm that this safe root method is also working on the Galaxy S4 mini, and even on some other devices.

Also please be aware that this method does not unlock your bootloader making you able to install custom recoveries and roms, but just installs su, SuperSU, and the necessary support files to enable the root. If it were to do that, it would trip the KNOX flag and would lead to a void warranty.

According to postal302 and k1mu, it is confirmed to work on the following devices:
  • Verizon SCH-I435
  • GT-I9190
  • GT-I9192, MK4 (ML2 does not work)
  • GT-I9195 (some variants)

    Disclaimer:

Before you proceed to the rooting instructions below, please read this disclaimer:

    Prerequisites:

    • Make sure you have the USB Drivers installed on your computer.
    • Be sure to enable USB Debugging (Settings -> More -> Developer options).
    • Enable USB ADB access (After enabling USB Debugging from your settings, connect your phone to your computer while it is unlocked and wait for a popup to appear that should ask you if you allow the connection, select "Always allow from this computer" and then tap on OK).
    • Download the saferoot.zip file to your computer.

Safely rooting your Galaxy S4 Mini steps:

    1. Connect your Galaxy S4 mini to your computer (be sure you have followed the usb adb access step correctly from the prerequisites part) and leave it connected.
    2. Now extract the saferoot.zip file and you should get two files and one folder install.bat, install.sh and the folder called files.
    3. Run the file install.bat (It is recommended that your right-click and click Run as Administrator for Windows 7/8/8.1 users) and be patient while it roots your phone. After it is done, your phone should reboot and you should have all the necessary files installed to your system, plus the SuperSU app.
    4. To ensure everything went well, you may download the app called Root Checker and see if you have full root access.
