How to install Android L Keyboard on Galaxy S4 mini

After the Android L preview factory images were released by Google, people began attempting to port various applications for devices with an Android version ranging from ICS to KitKat. One popular application that just recently got ported by XDA member bejunk is the Android L Keyboard.

For those of you who like the look and features of the new keyboard you can now easily install it on your Galaxy S4 mini and it works on both stock and AOSP roms. I personally have only tested the new keyboard on a stock 4.4.2 firmware and according to an user review, it also works flawlessly on 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Installation:

1. Download the zip file to your phone and extract it with an app such as RAR for Android, ES File Explorer, Root Explorer, or any other app that can do that.
2. Install the APK file just like you install a normal application and once the installation is complete, tap on Done.
3. Now using a root browsing tool such as ES File Explorer or Root Explorer, copy/move the .so file to /system/lib/
4. Set the .so file's permissions to rw-r--r-- and close the app
5. Now you should have a shortcut on your app drawer for the keyboard. Open it and follow the on-screen instructions to enable and switch to the new keyboard.

If you wish to switch to the "Material" design as shown in the screenshot above, you need to:

1. Go to Keyboard settings
2. Go to Advanced (Expert) settings
3. Tap on Color scheme and choose "Material".

That's pretty much it. Also, it would be great if someone could test this on a stock 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware and post their results.
